Wellesbourne Blooms

A group of our female friends from Wellesbourne have joined together in producing a decade-on version of the infamous Women’s Institute calendar of the year 2000. The Wellesbourne Blooms, spanning five decades themselves, have modestly bared various bits and pieces to raise money for the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer.

Their inspiration escalated from the successes in fund raising by ourselves, resulting in the donation of around £10,000 primarily to the James Whale Fund.

The Calendar Launch took place on Saturday 4th September in St Peter’s Church Hall, Wellesbourne, with the models (fully clothed!) in attendance. The event was a sell out.

A ‘behind the scenes’ DVD of the making of the ‘Wellesbourne Blooms’ calendar was shown, and this was then followed by the sale of the calendars and DVDs at £10 each, or £15 for the two together.

Should you wish to purchase a calendar they are now available for sale in Wellesbourne at the Pharmacy, Stags Head, Kings Head, Justina’s, Home Supplies Store, Sutoni’s and A& K Russell Butchers.  They can also be purchased from Temptations Lingerie shop in Stratford upon Avon. Alternatively, please submit your cheque , made payable to Wellesbourne Calendar Girls, (adding an additional £1.50 for P&P), and send to Ade & Jane Cure at the address on our contacts page.

Those also present at the launch night included the Blooms photographer, David Clarke, the production team, and the numerous local business’s who have kindly sponsored the calendar.

An Auction of Promises then took place, giving everyone an opportunity to bid for various items/promises donated by friends, family and business’s. See the Wellesbourne Blooms Launch Night Blog for an update on how much was raised on the night.

A bar was provided on the night by The Stags Head pub.
